This Is The Revamped 2021 Honda Accord: Award-Winning Technological Tour De Force

45 years since the first Honda Accord arrived in Canada, the 10th-generation Honda Accord enters 2021 with some major changes. New entry-level trim level. More technology. More standard equipment. Refreshed styling. Added safety.

The Accord was hardly in need of updates. Since the all-new Accord arrived in 2018, the awards have continued to pile on. The Accord was recently named to Car And Driver's 10 Best list for a 23rd consecutive year and a record 35th year overall – no other vehicle can come close to the Accord's consistency.

But rather than rest on those laurels, Honda goes on the offensive. The 2021 Accord kicks it off with a spectacularly well-equipped and stylish SE model to replace the LX and adds a broad array of unexpected gear across all model lines: wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, blind spot monitoring, and Rear Seat Reminder.

Here's the breakdown.

SE

The LX is gone. Welcome the SE. Standard equipment on this, the most affordable Accord, now include Accord Sport-like styling, 19-inch wheels, full LED lighting, leatherette seating, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a 12-way power driver's seat.

TECH & SAFETY

There's actually more to the SE, because all Accords now include more standard equipment than ever before. That includes blind spot monitoring, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto (which frees up USB ports for other devices to charge), a Rear Seat Reminder that chimes before you exit the vehicle, and Idle Stop. Adaptive Cruise Control, which is standard as part of Honda Sensing, now brakes more smoothly when approaching slow-moving traffic, and Lane Keeping Assist is also better than ever.

STYLE

How will you know if it's a 2021 Accord you're seeing? The grille is wider, and the Honda Sensing module is more neatly integrated. There are new LED high and low beams, smaller openings for the fog lights, and new wheel designs on the Accord EX-L and Accord Touring. Sonic Grey Pearl is a newly available colour, as well.

TRIM LEVELS

The 2021 Honda Accord SE, Sport, EX-L, and Touring all come standard with a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine cranking out 192 horsepower. The Sport and Touring can be upgraded with a 252-horsepower 2.0-liter turbo. There's also a 212-horsepower Accord Hybrid (rated at 5.0 L/100km in city and highway driving) available in two trim levels. New for 2021, the Accord Touring now includes Low Speed Braking Control, which can "warn the driver or apply the brakes" to help you from knocking into an object at low speeds.
